The Mission

Around Christmastime, I was talking to my wife about wanting to get a Wii with some of the money we got at Christmas. Her response was, “You don't ever play the games you have, why would you play these any more than that?” Having learned after four years of marriage that she pretty much is right about most things, I actually thought about that question, and after about ten seconds I realized that she was right. Damnit. I really wanted a Wii, too.

But I figured that I should take this realization and turn it into something useful. I grabbed all the games that I had and started organizing them. Unfortunately, my PS2 is no longer working so all I have to work with is my Xbox, my PC, my DS, and my Dreamcast. Since getting a new console was my goal, I figured that starting with a console would be best. So I started with all of my XBOX games.

I organized them in the order that I would like to play them, with the goal being playing each one from beginning to end. I won't move on to the next game until I've completely beaten the current game. I won't post the order right off the bat as I might make some revisions to the order at any time. I originally put Halo 2 at the beginning of the list, but moved it further in due to the fact that I haven't played a shooter on a console since Halo: Combat Evolved and I figured I would find the controls to be quite wonky compared to a mouse and keyboard.

Now bear in mind that I'm married, have two kids ages 2 years and 5 months, and work full time. I'm sure that if I were 18 and single again I could bang all these games out in the same span that one will take me now.

So first on the list is Ninja Gaiden: Black. I've played the first level on this game lots of different times, only to put the game away and come back months later and decide to start over from the beginning. I've set a goal for myself to have the game completed by the end of February. As of right now I'm in the middle of the second chapter and thoroughly enjoying the experience. Not that anyone cares since it's a 2+ year old game, but I'll be updating this blog with my impressions of the games as I progress through them.
